Rev. Olof Olsson
1841 - 1900
First Pastor of Bethany Church - Lindsborg
August 19, 1869, Pastor Olof Olsson and 12 men assembled outside of Bolaghuset (community house) to voice their soul's need.
Thus, that evening, the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Bethany Church was born. A worship service with holy communion and the 13 newly charted members was held in the home of C. R. Carlson.
First Church
Stone Church: 36 X 34 feet
Located in the Valley on Section 7, the first church was made of stone and sod.
January 1, 1870 the first worship service was held in the stone church. Stumps served as pews, and a simple table made by Olof Erson served as the altar.
Today this table can be found in the church sacristy.
Second Church 1874 - present
The second church was built on section 17; where Bethany stands today, so majestically with its 117-foot steeple pointing heavenward.
